Drunk Driver

By Serena Nickel
17 a whole life a head of you
you deside to get in with him
He was drunk you were sober
You got in the drivers seat but he told you
He was sober enough to drive
5 minutes later you died
He ran into a 10 feet wall
Now you never know whom you'll marry
or
who your first love will be
I was telling you
Not to get in with him
But you never listen
Now your dead

An Ode to Batman
By Jake Titus

He is a shadow moving through the night
He does not have a power such as flight
But he is a genius who wears a cape
He owns a car and cave where he eats grapes
He stopped the Joker's poisonous fish plot
And placed the Riddler in Arkham to rot
He protects the city with his young ward
Adam West played him, and won an award

Ode to my French Lover

By Nicholas Winder.

I love to eat you
Grasp you in my hands
And devour your tasty flesh
When I see you my heart tingles
As I undress you from your wrap
I give you a quick bath
And suck of the savory juices
Oh how long I've waited for you
Angered at your absence
It was chance I found you again
As my friends and I ate you bite after bite
All of us excited
That Arby's brought you to us again
The beloved French dip

Waiting

By Faye Martin

It was loud the clashing
clanging
screeching of tires
enflamed my senses
the smell of burning rubber
stung my nose.
The glass shattered
flying
cutting
hurting
dark red blood splattered my face
the screams - shrieks of pain
vibrated in my ears.
I cried out
reaching
searching for her,
my body screaming
in pain
as the snow danced
through the broken windows,
settling upon my face
cold
the blood that dripped
and pooled at my feet
now freezing
drying
crusting upon my skin.
Yet she didn't come.
The sound of sirens filled my ears
coming closer
closer
closer
mingling with the rushing of feet
and the screeching
of metal on metal.
I could feel warm hands picking me up
caressing me
sheltering me from the cold
wiping away the blood,
the warm water comforting
gentle
lulling me to sleep.
But I searched
night after night
for her -
her smile
her face
her calm, soothing words
telling me everything will be all right.
But she never came
The emptiness growing deeper
deeper
deeper
consuming me
as I
even now,
hiding beneath my blankets
silent tears streaming down my face,
still
wait.

Ode to Brownies

By B. Bryan

Chocolate! How dare thee! Enticement!
You cry to be taken from the plate.
Your chocolatey goodness stares at me with beady chocolate chip eyes from afar.
Inveiglement! Trap!
I take thee from thy plate of desire.
You come closer and closer to my mouth, and...
You go straight for my hips.
Curses! Fattened again!
