New Ambassadors Gear Up For New Year
                                                                By Cara Hunt

When most of us started to think about college and where we wanted to go, we were told that we needed to visit the campuses and check things out. The day finally came when you were able to visit the campus and take the tour. One of the very first people you met when you came on campus was your guide or student ambassador.  Here at MCC, the 2009-2010 Student Ambassadors have been chosen and are eager to meet the upcoming freshman who will join us next year.
The process of choosing the ambassadors began with the paperwork. Like any other job, the applicants had to fill out paperwork and write an essay telling why they wanted the job. After the papers were looked at, interviews came next and so did the nerves. Many of the applicants got interviews and the process of narrowing down began. After the interviews were completed, twelve students were selected as the student ambassadors and their journey began.  The 2009-2010 student ambassadors are Will Engell, Cara Hunt, Joni Pevler, Donell Betts, TJ Vacura, Jacqueline Lavato, Keenan “KG” Goskin, Brittany Halligan, Zach Johnstone, Nikki Nilson, Ryan Sargent, Julia Hale, Jake Curl, Trevor Tettey, and Kaila Kressin.
Kelly Ripen, Director of Regional Recruiting, is the advisor for the group. “We have a great group of this kids this year and I am excited to work with them,” Ripen said.
September 22, 2009 was the first training session of the group and then the fun began.  The group went on their first tour of the campus on the 29th of September and is ready to start on this new adventure.
If you are interested in a student ambassador’s job for next year, all you have to do is keep your eyes and ears open.  At the start of the year, there will be posters hung and meetings held giving you the information about the job.
When you are walking around campus this fall and spring and you see one of these students walking around with someone you don’t know, stop and introduce yourself. You may be one of the deciding factors that helps that new student choose MCC for the new school year.
